A side effect of orthokeratology and soft multifocal contact lenses may be slowed eye growth. Therefore, they provide the benefits of spectacle-free vision correction, such as improved self-perception and improved quality of life, while providing myopia control. A review of the literature will provide evidence-based information that can be shared with parents and allow eye doctors to provide optimal treatment for myopia. A discussion of the relative merits of orthokeratology and soft multifocal contact lens wear will also be presented.
