Coloured filters for reading difficulty: do they help?

Coloured overlays or tinted lenses are sometimes recommended for patients who experience visual distortion or discomfort when reading. Recommendation is based on decades of research reporting that the colour helps to reduce the patients’ symptoms. In this lecture, we will look at the research underpinning the use of colour in these patients and consider its implications for ongoing clinical practice.
